MamakVPN offers 100% free PPTP and OpenVPN service to the general public. The Internet should largely remain free to anyone who uses it for legitimate purposes.

MamakVPN started off as a paid VPN service provider in 2011, offering unparalleled VPN service with a minimum monthly charge. However, due to stiff competition from well established VPN operators, we have decided to change focus, to offer free VPN access to anyone who needs it. A part of this decision was mainly due to a recent visit to China, where most of the contents including Facebook, Twitter, Youtube were censored. It created a large inconvenience to some of us, whom were greatly attached to these services. Nonetheless, in our 1 week in China, we never got to use our favorite social media Hence, we decided to start off a community based project to offer free VPN to the public.

 

There was a drastic shift in all operation, instead of a profit based operation, we took all of the profit out to fund these free servers. Along the way, we also decommission a lot of servers for sustainability as the bandwidth charges itself for locations such as Asia and the Middle East were too much to operate for free.

 

We are now introducing advertisements, as the main source to fund these servers. We also took out our own contributions to fund these servers to last as long as possible. This project is a community based project, where everyone, YOU keeps this service alive.
